About us

Who Are We?

The Bunker Hill Monument Association

The primary purpose of the Bunker Hill Monument Association is to memorialize the Battle of Bunker Hill every year on June 17th which includes an Ecumenical Service at St. Francis de Sales and Commemoration Ceremony held at the base of the Monument.

The BHMA is also the guardian of many historic artifacts relating to the Monument and the Battle.  For example, the BHMA has two aquatints of the Bunker Hill Monument and surrounding grounds which are on loan to the Massachusetts General Hospital in Charlestown. The marble bust of President Carnot of the Republic of France is on loan to the Consulate General of France in Boston. Finally, the second floor of the Battle Bunker Hill Museum includes a Pitman Model of the Battle. The model allows the viewer to “experience” the battle and appreciate the actions of the British and Colonialists on June 17, 1775.

We continue to provide this service with great pride and a sense of responsibility.

Commemoration

In preserving our Nation’s history the Bunker Hill Monument Association in partnership with the American Legion is responsible for the commemoration ceremony to memorialize the Battle of Bunker Hill every year on June 17th. This includes an Ecumenical Service at St. Francis de Sales followed by greetings and remarks by dignitaries, held at the base of the Monument.

The first address was by Daniel Webster in 1825. This tradition continues and has never been disrupted. It remains the longest running commemoration in our nation’s history. Your membership is invaluable in helping to continue to keep this historic event alive.
